NaKita attended Georgia State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2001. In 2009, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University Theological Seminary and Graduate School. After graduating from Liberty University, she attended Florida State University where she earned a Master of Social (MSW) degree in 2011. She is currently a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Florida and qualified to provide supervision for registered clinical social work, mental health, and marriage and family interns. She is also a certified in complex trauma, perinatal mental health and as a birth doula.
NaKita served in the Florida Army National Guard for 10 years, with five of those years as a Behavioral Health Specialist. She previously worked as a school social worker for Polk County Public Schools in the Homeless Education program for nine years and has provided mental health counseling since 2016. She utilizes elements of Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to provide holistic counseling services.
