Christian mental health counseling is a ministry under the spiritual gifts of helping and encouragement which integrates psychological concepts with biblical truths to help people overcome mental and emotional concerns. Grace Hope Counseling of Florida recognizes the importance of faith in the therapeutic process as part of the healing and recovery process.
Christian counselors may use the following strategies as part of the therapy process:
Mental health concerns that occur durring pregnacy and up to 12 months after birth is referred to as perinatal mental health. Both parents can experience perinatal mental health disorders. Included are conditions that developed for the first time or were significantly aggravated during pregnancy, as well as mental health concerns that existed prior to conception.
Examples of perinatal mental health issues are antenatal and/or postnatal depression, anxiety, OCD, postpartum psychosis, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Different types of care or therapy may be necessary depending on how severe, moderate, or mild these disorders are.
If you've experienced trauma, it's important to seek help from a qualified therapist. NaKita is a trained Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist and uses Trauma-Focused Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help pregnant and postpartum clients work through trauma experiences and develop healthy coping strategies.
